Apple Updates MacBook Pro with Retina Display

CUPERTINO, California—July 29, 2014—Apple® has announced updates to the MacBook Pro® with Retina® display, featuring faster processors, double the memory in both entry-level models, and a reduced starting price for the high-end 15-inch notebook. The MacBook Pro with Retina display boasts a remarkable high-resolution screen, a sleek design just 0.71 inches thick, the latest processors, powerful graphics, and up to nine hours of battery life, offering incredible performance in a highly portable package.* Additionally, Apple has reduced the starting price of the non-Retina 13-inch MacBook Pro, a favorite among those switching from Windows, by $100 to $1,099.
"People love their MacBook Pro for its thin and light aluminum unibody design, beautiful Retina display, all-day battery life, and deep integration with OS X," stated Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. "The MacBook Pro with Retina display is now even better with faster processors, more memory, more affordable options, and a free upgrade to OS X Yosemite this fall."
The 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display now includes dual-core Intel Core i5 processors up to 2.8 GHz with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.3 GHz and 8GB of memory, an increase from 4GB in the base model. It can also be customized with faster dual-core Intel Core i7 processors up to 3.0 GHz with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.5 GHz. The premium 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display now starts at a lower price of $2,499. It features faster quad-core Intel Core i7 processors up to 2.5 GHz with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.7 GHz, 16GB of memory, increased from 8GB in the base model, and can be customized with quad-core Intel Core i7 processors up to 2.8 GHz with Turbo Boost speeds up to 4.0 GHz.
Every new Mac® includes iLife® and iWork® at no extra cost. iLife allows you to edit videos with iMovie®, create music or learn to play an instrument with GarageBand®, and manage and share your photos with iPhoto®. The iWork suite, featuring Pages®, Numbers®, and Keynote®, simplifies the creation, editing, and sharing of impressive documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. iWork for iCloud® beta enables you to start a document on an iPhone® or iPad®, edit it on your Mac, and collaborate with others, even if they use a PC.

The 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display is available with a 2.2 GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor with Turbo Boost up to 3.4 GHz, 16GB of memory, 256GB of flash storage, and Intel Iris Pro graphics starting at $1,999 (US); and with a 2.5 GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor with Turbo Boost up to 3.7 GHz, 16GB of memory, 512GB of flash storage, and Intel Iris Pro and NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M graphics starting at $2,499 (US). Customization options include faster quad-core Intel Core i7 processors up to 2.8 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 4.0 GHz and flash storage up to 1TB.
The 13-inch MacBook Pro is available with a 2.5 GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost up to 3.1 GHz, 4GB of memory, Intel HD Graphics 4000, and a 500GB hard drive starting at $1,099 (US).
